Chemical supplier Hydrite announced Wednesday that plans for a $21 million expansion project at its Waterloo, IA manufacturing facility will move forward after the project was awarded tax credits through the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) High Quality Jobs tax credit program.

The company said in a release that it will increase manufacturing and warehouse space at the site and expand its transportation fleet over the next three years. 20 new positions will be created through the project, increasing the Waterloo facility’s headcount to 158 workers.

IEDA board members announced that the Hydrite project would be supported with tax credits on February 18.

“We understand the foundation of a great workplace relies on building blocks that are fundamental in company culture. Our core values and expectations focus around Integrity, Innovation, Quality, People, and Responsible Growth,” Hydrite president Kevin Honhamp said in a statement. “We see these key attributes not only in our culture at Hydrite but throughout the people in the state of Iowa. We appreciate the long-term partnership and look forward to contributing to the community in the future.”

Hydrite is currently in the process of adding a new thiosulfate production line and installing a sulfur burner at its Terre Haute, IN manufacturing site. The company produces a wide range of products used in food processing, industrial chemicals, pet food, oil and gas, bio fuels, and other applications.
