Chemical Distributor Univar Plans $6M Facility in Ohio

Chemical and ingredient distributor Univar Solutions plans to invest $6.3 million to open a new Shared Service Centers of Excellence facility in Dublin, OH as part of consolidation efforts following the firm’s recent acquisition of industrial plastics and chemicals distributor Nexeo Solutions, economic development organization JobsOhio and the company announced in separate releases. 

“Expanding our Shared Service Centers of Excellence is a strategic priority behind our mission to streamline, innovate, and grow,” Mark Fisher, president of Univar Solutions USA, said in a statement. “Bringing a concentration of talent together in this one location will create increased and focused capabilities, scalability, and efficiencies for our business that directly result in creating more value for our customers, suppliers, employees, and shareholders.”

313 workers are currently employed by Univar in Dublin. The company said the project will help the firm to grow through the addition of 30,000 sq ft at the Parkwood Place site and the hiring of 225 new staff members. 

Hiring will start in the fourth quarter of this year for accounts payable and receivable positions, as well as billing clerks, and accounting and planning roles.
