Moving to meet increased demand, German chemicals firm BASF said Monday that it plans to boost production of its Ultramid polyamide grades at its BASF India Ltd. manufacturing plant in Panoli, Gujarat, India. The increased supply is expected to come online in the fourth quarter of this year.

“The additional capacity reaffirms our dedication to being our customers’ supplier of choice for polyamides and will help us meet the rapidly growing demand for our Ultramid polyamide grades in India,” Andy Postlethwaite, senior vice president, Performance Materials Asia Pacific for BASF said in a company release. “It will accordingly shorten local delivery times and help us to better meet the just-in-time needs of original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).”

Ultramid has applications in automotive applications, electronics, industrial products, consumer goods and more.
