Process equipment manufacturer Volkmann USA, Bristol, PA, has named William Piedra, Jr. project engineer.
With experience in the design, development, and production of fabricated capital equipment, Piedra joins Volkmann's team of engineers that desig pneumatic vacuum conveyors, weigh feeding systems, bulk bag unloading stations, and other equipment for automating bulk material transfer. Piedra previously held product design and engineering positions for custom material handling and process heating equipment manufacturers.
“Of course the conveying systems are the key driver of our growth but our problem-solving expertise and powder handling experience are just as important in driving our high repeat purchase rate,” said Dominick Fortuna, president, Volkmann Inc. “William shares our resourceful, creative approach that's needed when installations require a custom solution.”
Piedra earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology, Newark, NJ, and is a certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. He is also a Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP) with advanced certifications in sheet metal (CSWPA-SM) and drawing tools (CSWPA-DT).
Volkmann designs and manufactures explosion-proof pneumatic vacuum conveying systems and companion equipment to safely transfer powders, pellets, tablets, and other bulk materials from one point to another. The company is the North American subsidiary of the family-owned Volkmann GmbH, Soest, Germany, founded in 1973.
