ConAgra Foods is selling two of its baking plants located in Chicago and Wyoming, MI to Alpha Baking Co. Inc. for an undisclosed amount, Food Business News reported on Tuesday.

The purchase will enable Alpha Baking to expand into sweet baked products like muffins, petit fours, and cupcakes.

“Alpha Baking has been producing high-quality bread, buns, and rolls since 1979, and we will now utilize our experience and attention to customer service to operate in the sweet goods category,” said Lawrence Marcucci, president and chief executive officer of Alpha Baking, according to the report.

Prior to the purchase, Alpha Baking operated four production plants with a combined 14 production lines in Chicago, La Porte, IN, and Manitowoc, WI.
