Chemours Building $150M Mining Solutions Plant in Mexico

Chemicals firm The Chemours Company held a groundbreaking ceremony on Monday in Gomez Palacio, Mexico to mark the beginning of construction on its Mining Solutions manufacturing plant there, the Wilmington, DE company announced via press release.

“Mining companies count on us for consistent, reliable supply to keep their operations running. This production facility in Mexico will significantly increase our capacity and will include state-of-the-art manufacturing technology and production processes,” said Chris Siemer, president of Chemours’ chemical solutions business, in a statement. “Its location near some of the largest deposits of gold and silver in Mexico and in the heart of the mining industry will enable us to broaden our support to our customers by providing distinct competitive advantage in supply chain routing.”

The company, one of the world’s largest producers of solid sodium cyanide, is investing $150 million in the plant.

“This project is a further demonstration of our five-point transformation plan and will support the growing needs of the Mexican mining market,” Mark Vergnano, president and chief executive officer of Chemours, said in the firm’s release.
