NOVA Chemicals names William Mitchell Vice President and General Counsel

NOVA Chemicals has announced the promotion of William Mitchell to vice president and general counsel. Mitchell has succeeded Jack Mustoe, chief legal officer and corporate secretary, who retired in December 2009.

"Bill brings extensive experience in NOVA Chemicals' legal department," said Randy Woelfel, NOVA Chemicals' chief executive officer. "He is uniquely qualified for this key leadership role and will make an immediate impact."

Mitchell has more than 25 years of legal experience in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. Prior to joining NOVA Chemicals, he held several leadership roles including patent counsel, Merck & Co. Inc; general counsel and secretary, Calgon Corp.; and vice president and general counsel, Oakwood Laboratories. Most recently, Mitchell served as a vice president in NOVA Chemicals legal department, and currently serves as a board member at Launchcyte LLC.

Mitchell earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Juris Doctorate from Duquesne University School of Law.
