Metso to Supply Grinding Equipment to Norilsk Nickel in Russia

Metso will supply grinding equipment to Open Joint Stock Company (OJSC) "Mining and Metallurgical Company Norilsk Nickel" (MMC Norilsk Nickel) for its subsidiary Talnakh Concentrator in Northern Russia. The value of the order is approximately EUR 40 million and delivery will be completed by the end of 2010.

The order includes a semi-autogenous (SAG) grinding mill with a diameter of 34 feet and two ball mills each with a diameter of 22 feet. The order also includes ancillary equipment, as well as installation and commissioning services.

Located at the Taimyr Peninsula in Siberia, the Talnakh Concentrator processes rich ores mined at the Talnakh and Oktyabrsky deposits to produce nickel, copper, and pyrrhotite concentrates. Metso's delivery is for the renovation project of the minerals processing plant at the Talnakh Concentrator. The project is expected to increase the annual ore production from 10.5 to 17 million tons.

The OJSC "MMC Norilsk Nickel" is Russia's largest mining company and the world's leading producer of nickel, palladium, and platinum.
