Free Safe Feed/Safe Food Webinar in April

The American Feed Industry Association will host a free Safe Feed/Safe Food webinar in April regarding certification program updates within the FSC36 Safe Feed/Safe Food Certification Program.

The Safe Quality Food Institute will coordinate the April 7 webinar. The webinar is expected to discuss major changes in the FSC36 Safe Feed/Safe Food guidance document, and how those changes will affect facilities as well as the reasoning behind the changes.

The Safe Feed/Safe Food website lists the changes as well as other documents related to the certification program and guidance document.

Registration is limited for the webinar.

The changes to the certification program are intended to make the process more user-friendly for facilities, according to Henry Turlington, AFIA quality and manufacturing regulatory affairs director. One of the changes is that a “self-audit” is being replaced by an audit done by the certifying group, he also said.

The new FSC36 Safe Feed/Safe Food guidance document is intended to help facilities with creating a feed safety program and provides examples to help interested users be compliant with the program.
