Taking place March 8-10, 2016 at the Bulk Solids Innovation Center in Salina, KS, this course will cover topics related to the pneumatic conveying of powders and bulk solids. Course topics include:
• Dilute and dense phase sequencing, including theory and practical applications
• Vacuum sequencing, including theory and practical applications
• Material characterization
• Gas-solids flow
• Particle degradation, pipe wear, and tear problems
• Instrumentation and control
• System selection considerations
The course also includes a site visit to a bulk solids handling equipment manufacturer.
Who should attend: The course is ideal for those responsible for designing, improving, or troubleshooting pneumatic conveying systems such as engineers, operators, managers, and technicians in the following industries:
• Plastics
• Chemical
• Mineral
• Food
• Pharmaceutical
• Grain and feed
The Bulk Solids Innovation Center contains sophisticated equipment and controls for measurement of actual bulk solids behaviors, including storage, conveying, gravity flow, blending, segregation, degradation, dust collection, safety, and air pollution control. This one-of-a-kind facility allows for students to get hands-on training on how to operate and problem solve with this equipment.
