Firm to Open $111M Minerals Processing Plant in US

Calcium carbonate producer and distributor Incoa Performance Minerals LLC is launching a $110.8 million capital investment project to open a new minerals processing facility at a private port facility near Mobile, AL, Millard Maritime, the owner and operator of the site, announced in a recent release.

Millard Maritime is a 300-acre muiti-use site in the Gulf Coast region. The new location will be Incoa’s first manufacturing location in the area.

“The value proposition is its central location on the Gulf Coast with good rail, barge and relative distance from a major interstate,” the firm’s chief operating officer, Tyson Creamer, said in a statement.

Over the next five years, Incoa will create 74 new jobs at the minerals processing plant. The company selected the location last year and have since received funding to develop the new facility at Millard Meritime.

During the project, Incoa will renovate an existing 250,000-sq-ft structure and build a new 40,000-sq-ft storage building, news website AL.com reported, citing information from the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce. The site will process calcium carbonate, which is used in a wide range of applications, including paints, food, and plastics.

The facility is slated to come online in 2021, according to AL.com.
