Rulmeca Celebrates 50 Years of Belt Conveyor Rollers

In 2012 Rulmeca, a leading manufacturer of rollers for belt conveyors is celebrating 50 years of activity.

Founded in 1962 in Almè, Bergamo, Italy, the company has adapted to market changes over the years, becoming the headquarters of the 22 Rulmeca companies in the world, and specializing in the production and sales of rollers, motorized pulleys, and components for belt conveyors in bulk handling applications.

Behind Rulmeca products is a rich history of innovation, international evolution, and research. Led by founder Antonio Ghisalberti, Rulmeca has produced rollers since 1962.

During its first years of activity the company’s production was focused on the development and manufacture of rollers for medium- and heavy-duty belt conveyors for quarries and mining applications. Experience and know-how acquired during the next several years allowed the company to grow and widen its product range.

At the beginning of the 1970s, Rulmeca added conveyor components, thanks to the cooperation of Interroll. The integration of motorized pulleys and equipment for flow storage followed.

In the 80s Rulmeca started to explore the international market with the first acquisition of competing foreign companies. Today the Rulmeca Group is composed by 22 manufacturing and/or sales companies with 1100 employees and a turnover of 150 million euro, now managed by the Headquarter Rulmeca Holding S.p.A.
