Railinc Launches TrainFax Web Site for Freight Rail Equipment Reports

Railinc Corp. has launched a Railinc TrainFax Web site that delivers reliable, up-to-date rail equipment information in a single report. Freight rail equipment owners, lessees, investors, insurers, inspectors, and other professionals conducting asset-related research can purchase an easy-to-read, rail equipment report in a standard downloadable format that compiles critical rail equipment data from rail industry sources and Railinc databases. Product details, including a sample TrainFax report, are available on the product Web site at www.railinc.com/trainfax.

“Railinc’s new TrainFax Web site greatly improves access to information about rail equipment by consolidating data into a standardized report,” said Rob Drew, Railinc product manager. “It scans more than two million rail equipment records and hundreds of thousands of health alerts each time it generates a report, saving researchers both time and money. TrainFax users can be confident that they have current and accurate data to inform their equipment ownership decisions.”

A complete Railinc TrainFax report includes equipment ownership information, inspection reports, maintenance alerts, transportation restrictions, and equipment characteristics such as weight, dimensions, features, and specifications. Confidential data such as the age of equipment or commodities carried are not included in a report. Reports are available for all rail equipment types, including locomotives, box cars, flat cars, intermodal, hoppers, tank cars, and gondolas. System users can generate up to 50 reports at one time. Companies and researchers also can request customized reports and data extracts to answer specific rail-related business questions, including a car’s future maintenance cash flows, historical use and the ability to transfer car ownership.

Each TrainFax report is created by Railinc, the rail industry’s leading resource for rail equipment data, information technology, and information services. TrainFax pulls equipment records from Railinc’s Umler system, Equipment Health Management System, FindUs.Rail Industry Directory, and Industry Event Repository, among others. Information is available on all equipment registered in the Umler system, except for those with certain restrictions.

“With TrainFax, users have a convenient and fast way to research multiple rail equipment data sources simultaneously, saving time and administrative effort,” Drew said. “Buyers, sellers, and financial analysts can use Railinc TrainFax reports to complete due diligence in transactions, and inspectors can include TrainFax reports in their equipment inspections and appraisals.”?
