Fire Ignites in Storage Silo at Pactiv Plant

Crews were sent to put out flames in a storage silo at the firm’s Temple, TX production facility this week.

Fire personnel were called to the Pactiv Inc. facility in Temple, TX Wednesday afternoon after receiving a report of a structure fire at the site.

Dispatched at about 4 p.m., crews arrived on scene to discover heavy smoke in a storage silo, Temple Fire & Rescue said in a statement posted to its Facebook page.

“Guided by on-site maintenance technicians, firefighters were able to quickly locate and extinguish the flames inside, keeping damage to a minimum,” the fire department wrote. “All employees in the immediate area were able to evacuate without injury.”

25 firefighters responded to the site, along with law enforcement and EMS personnel.

The cause of the blaze being investigated, according to local television news station KWTX.

Pactiv manufactures and distributes packaging, trays, containers, films and other products for use in the foodservice, food processing, supermarket, and convenience store markets. The Temple facility produces products for the foodservice industry, information on the firm’s website states.
