There was an explosion at a chemical factory in Chirchiq town in the Tashkent region of Uzbekistan Tuesday morning, according to the country's Emergency Situations Ministry.

Firefighters and other emergency teams had the situation under control, the official said.

The explosion occurred in a workshop of Maxam Chirchiq, a joint venture at one of the largest chemical factories in Uzbekistan.
