Stuckey’s Buys Candy Production Plant

Convenience store operator and confectionery products retailer Stuckey’s has acquired a candy production plant in Wrens, GA as part of its purchase of Atwell Pecan Company and two associated businesses, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reported Tuesday.

Stephanie Stuckey, the firm’s CEO, told the newspaper that the move will enable the company to expand its product portfolio and enter new retail spaces like grocery stores and large chains. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Atwell Pecan is a supplier of pecans and other nuts, including almonds and walnuts, according to information on its website. The site handles up to 5 million lb/yr of pecans.

The facility will produce a new line of flavored pecans for Stuckey’s and other clients, as well as pralines, log rolls, fudge and other products, the executive said in the Journal Constitution.
