Commodities handler and marketer The Scoular Company entered into an agreement to lease a grain receiving facility near Sheridan Lake, CO from Crossroads agriculture, providing the company with an additional 1.6 million bushels of temporary storage capacity, the company announced in a release Thursday.

Capable of unloading 20 trucks per hour with a high-speed conveyor, Scoular’s new site will serve the southeast Colorado and southwest Kansas areas. Its location along the Colorado Pacific Railroad will provide local producers with new marketing opportunities.

“The Sheridan Lake site will be Scoular’s seventh in the region focused on providing producers fast harvest unloading and efficient market access,” Phil Van Court, regional facility manager for Scoular, said in a statement.

Scoular will lease and operate the Sheridan Lake facility as part of its Coolidge business.

Powder & Bulk Solids reported in August that Scoular selected Jerome, ID as the location of a new 15,000-sq-ft plant for barley-based protein concentrate.
