Texas-based protein products manufacturer John Soules Foods commenced construction on its new production facility in Valley, AL after delaying the project several times because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Valley and the Chambers County Development Authority (CCDA) announced in a release this week.

Based in Tyler, TX, the firm produces ready-to-cook beef and chicken products and fully cooked breaded chicken.

Construction on the facility will be carried out over three phases. The company is investing $90 million in the first phase to renovate an existing building, build additional structures, and install wastewater technology and two cook lines. About $39 million used during the second phase of the project to add two additional cook lines. During the third phase, John Soules will spend $22 million to add a fifth cook line at the site.

About 500 full-time workers will be hired during the three phases. Work on the site is projected to last about 13 months. John Soules projects that the facility will become operational by next summer.

John Soules also operates manufacturing facilities in Tyler, TX and Gainesville, GA.
