Independent flour milling firm Grain Craft is moving forward on plans to erect a new grain elevator next to its flour mill in Blackfoot, ID, according to a report in Intermountain Farm & Ranch this week.

The company announced Tuesday that construction on the elevator started in May and that work on concrete pads is slated to begin this month, the news organization’s coverage said. Grain Craft expects the project to wrap up in the fourth quarter of 2021.

“This new elevator will allow us to grow our origination of Idaho wheat for our other flour mills and it will help support our ongoing commitment to source quality wheat,” Grain Craft Chief Supply Chain Officer Alan Koenig said in a statement quoted by Intermountain Farm & Ranch.

Once operational, the site will receive wheat from local producers and use conveying equipment to transport the grain to the mill.
