A fire broke out at the Olam Spices and Vegetables plant in Las Cruces, NM on Monday, drawing a response from local firefighters.

Crews were dispatched to the Amador Avenue facility at about 3 p.m. after officials received word that heavy smoke was coming out of the structure, according to the Las Cruces Fire Department.

“All employees safely evacuated the fire, said to be on a conveying system, was quickly extinguished,” the fire department said in a post on its Facebook page. “No injuries were reported.”

After the flames were doused, firefighters remained at the site to clear smoke from the building. No damage estimate was available.

The fire Monday was the third blaze reported at the facility this year. Powder & Bulk Solids reported that two machine fires were extinguished at the Las Cruces plant in one week during September.

The cause of Monday’s blaze remains under investigation.
