Conagra Commits $60M to Expand Snacks Production Plant

Food manufacturer Conagra Brands Inc. is preparing to launch a $60 million project to boost the capacity of its snacks production plant in Troy, OH, several local news organizations recently reported

Work will start this August to add 15,000 ft of space to existing facility’s footprint that will support production of Slim Jim meat snack products, coverage by the Dayton Daily News said. The location currently manufactures 98.5% of Slim Jims in the US market.

About 100 new jobs will be added to the plant’s present headcount of around 950, according to SmithCountyNewsOnline.com.

The project is expected to reach completion by early 2023, per the Daily News.

Powder & Bulk Solids reported in July 2020 that Conagra announced planned to invest $100 million to expand Slim Jim production at the Troy plant, including 65,000 sq ft of new space, new smokehouses and drying rooms, and new packaging equipment.
