Gourmet chocolate and truffles manufacturer Lake Champlain Chocolates (LCC) has issued a voluntary recall for some of its milk chocolate products because they may contain foreign objects, according to a noticed recently published on the US Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) website.

LLC published an announcement on the recall on January 16. The company said it initiated the recall after a consumer said they found brittle plastic pieces in one of its products.

“After initial investigations and out of an abundance of caution, LCC is voluntarily recalling all potential affected product currently on the market from July 2020 through January 2021,” the company’s announcement said. “To date, no consumers have reported adverse health effects due to this contamination.”

The impacted products include Hazelnut Five Star Bar, Fruit & Nut Five Star Bar, Almond Five Star Bar, Granola Five Star Bar, Organic Milk Chocolate Bar with Sea Salt & Almonds, Milk Chocolate Almond Bark and Chocolates of Vermont Green Mountain. LLC said the potentially contaminated products were sold across the US by retailers and distributors and at the firm’s three retail stores in Vermont.

Customers are urged to throw the recalled products away.

Powder & Bulk Solids reported this week that Nestle is recalling select batches of Hot Pockets Brand Sandwiches due to the potential presence of clear plastic/glass.
