Cargill Poultry Processing Plant Heavily Damaged in Fire

Fire personnel were sent to the Cargill Canada poultry processing plant in London, ON Monday morning after a blaze ignited at the facility.

Arriving at the Cuddy Boulevard location, firefighters observed a large volume of smoke and flames in an area of the structure, officials told Global News. The news organization described damages to the plant as “substantial.”

Crews were able to douse the flames without injury, London News Today reported. An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway. The incident was said to have started in a part of the facility used for trash compaction.

Officials stated that fire does not appear to be suspicious in nature.

Cargill Canada’s plant in London processes more than 100,000 chickens per day, according to information on the firm’s website. The site has a headcount of 900 workers.
