Material Factors for Dust Explosion Protection Webinar

Dust explosions are a serious problem in powder handling operations. While occurrences of dust explosions are rare their effects can be devastating. They have led to injuries and fatalities and even destruction of property. Five factors have to come together in order for a dust explosion to occur. Removing anyone of these five factors can lead to the mitigation of the hazard. This webinar will discuss those five factors and how they can be used to protect against dust explosions. This is an introductory seminar geared toward plant operation and health & safety professionals. No prerequisites are required for this webinar except a basic understanding of combustion – you need fuel and air and a source of heat to create a fire.

Attendees will learn the following:

•    Approaches to mitigate dust explosions
•    Material characteristics affecting mitigation strategies
•    Dust explosion protections options
•    Pitfalls to consider when assessing various methods

Dr. Ashok Ghose Dastidar, PhD MBA, will present this free webinar, Material Factors for Dust Explosion Protection, on Wednesday, April 6 at 2pm Eastern. Dastidar is a fellow engineer, Westinghouse Engineering Center of Excellence – Westinghouse Electric Company LLC, and vice president, dust & flammability testing and consulting services, Fauske & Associates LLC.
