Moving Industry 4.0 from Concept to Implementation and Value

Industry 4.0 is a frequently used term at conventions and in industry research, but for North American manufacturing firms the concept is often not fully implemented into operations. There are signs this may be changing, according to German industrial control and automation company Festo Corp. In advance of a presentation at this year's Powder & Bulk Solids Montreal show, Festo Canada's Technology Driver for Advanced Manufacturing and Industry 4.0 Ben Hope spoke with Powder & Bulk Solids about how manufacturing companies can embrace the new digital capabilities of Industry 4.0 and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).

While some bemoan the security concerns and logistical steps that accompany implementation of Industry 4.0 solutions, industry experts foresee tremendous growth in IIoT capabilities among U.S. industrial firms.
