Spray Drying: The Explosion Protection Challenge

Spray dryers, particularly in the dairy sector, have historically been a source of fires and explosions. Despite this their explosion protection remains for many a 'black art'. Yet improved knowledge gained from ATEX compliance, particularly in the area of non-electrical protection, allows one to take a systematic approach to developing a robust basis of safety, encompassing material properties, operational parameters, and relevant design assumptions.

This webinar is aimed at those who operate and specify spray drying equipment, whether that is in the dairy, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology industries. Its purpose is to present a systematic approach to process safety for spray dryers. For instance, many operators are not fully aware of how a change in material properties or operating settings can easily compromise the safety of a spray drying system. Similarly, turnkey suppliers of spray drying equipment make assumptions, not always correctly, as to how operators will actually operate the equipment.

Format
A one-hour online session: 40-minute presentation plus a 20-minute Q&A. Duration (for CPD recording purposes) is up to one hour.
