Specialty chemicals firm WACKER Chemie AG has selected construction and real estate development companies KIRCO and KIRCO MANIX to design and build an innovation center and regional headquarters in Pittsfield Charter Township, MI, the contractor announced in a recent release.

The 140,000-sq-ft North American Innovation Center & Regional Headquarters will be used for research and design activities. 300 jobs will move from WACKER’s current regional headquarters in Adrian, MI and the company plans to add 70 more positions to the new facility over the next few years.

“This world-class facility will support future growth in the state and allow WACKER to have an important anchor in one of the nation’s leading R&D corridors surrounded by great community partners,” Greg Brabec, director of advocacy and special projects for WACKER, said in a statement.

WACKER is investing $50 million in the project. Work on the site started this month and is slated to reach completion in March 2022.
