Huntsman to Boost Production of Specialty Amines

The expansion project at the firm’s Conroe, TX facility will support its Performance Products division.

Chemicals manufacturer Huntsman Corp. announced Monday that its Performance Products division wrapped up work on the initial phases of a project at its Conroe, TX facility to expand production of specialty amines.

The investment will expand capacity of the firm’s E-GRADE brand of specialty amines, including quaternary amine alternatives to tetramethylammonium hydroxide (TMAH) and related products. The products are used by the semiconductor industry

“This expansion would leverage our expertise as one of the world’s leading semiconductor-grade amine suppliers to improve customer experience, meet stringent quality expectations, and offer a greater range of products to the growing and dynamic semiconductor industry,” Chuck Hirsch, senior vice president, Huntsman Performance Products, said in a release. “This project also would satisfy many of our customers’ requests to have a North American supply source for these vitally needed products.”

Huntsman plans to add purification, blending, and cleanroom packaging capabilities during the project.

Work on the Conroe site is slated to reach completion in 2023.  

Earlier this month, Powder & Bulk Solids reported that Huntsman kicked off a “multi-million” dollar expansion project at its Petfurdo, Hungary production facility to increase the site’s capacity for polyurethane catalysts and specialty amines. The firm said the effort will allow the plant to operate with greater flexibility and increase its ability to provide innovative products to customers in the polyurethane, coatings, metalworking, and electronics industries.
