ADM Supplies Sazerac with Alcohol for Hand Sanitizer

As demand for hand sanitizer spiked during the COVID-19 pandemic, American agribusiness Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) is supplying industrial ethyl alcohol to support production of hand sanitizer by North American distilled spirits producer Sazerac Company. 

“Increasing volumes of ethyl alcohol to support the critical need for hand sanitizer is an important way for ADM to step up and help right now,” said Chris Cuddy, president of ADM Carbohydrate Solutions, in a company press release. “Sazerac is a great partner, and we appreciate their efforts to get products that can help reduce the spread of COVID-19 into the hands of people who need it most.”

Sazerac started manufacturing, packaging, and distributing the product to a wide range of organizations around the world, including governments, militaries, and the healthcare, airline, and banking industries. 

“We’ve seen a huge demand for hand sanitizer on an industrial scale, and we’re appreciative we’ve been able to rely on our longstanding partner ADM to assist by producing a critical component of hand sanitizer – ethyl alcohol,” Brett Schleder, director of procurement for Sazerac, said in a statement. “Together, our efforts combined have helped in the battle against the spread of COVID-19 for team members in various industries across the country.”

ADM also plans to donate some 10,000 1.75L bottles of the Sazerac-produced hand sanitizer to healthcare and long-term care facilities in Decatur, IL.
