Metal Detection & Separation

Pneumatic Line Magnet  This pneumatic line magnet is designed for highly abrasive product and provides strong magnetic separation with a straight through flow design. The EP tube magnet contains two magnetic sections mounted opposite of each other outside of the product flow, eliminating a wear point. The position of the magnetic sections ensures that metal will come in close proximity to a magnetic area that will have enough force to capture the unwanted metal. Both doors open to fully expose the magnets, making it easier for the operator to clean and remove all of the captured metal. The straight through pipe design provides long unit life since traditional inlet and outlet transitions in the pipe design create wear points for abrasive product. Industrial Magnetics Inc., Boyne City, MI 231-582-3100  www.magnetics.com

Metal Separator The Rapid Vario-FS inspects bulk goods in free-fall conditions. It detects all metals including iron, stainless steel and aluminum, even when embedded within the product. The metal contaminants are then automatically rejected from the product stream by a high-speed diverter. Standard stainless construction provides reliability in the most demanding environments. Various sizes and configurations are available to help customize the system. Depending on the specific requirements, a choice of three control packages is available. The standard configuration with primus controls is stocked in the company’s technical center in IL.  S+S Inspection Inc., Bartlett, IL 484-809-4572 www.sesotec-usa.com

Highly Sensitive Metal Detector  The user-friendly E-Z Tec DSP metal detector features a state-of-the-art electronic design that combines an easy-to-use 4x5 in. touch screen interface with advanced digital signal processing to provide detailed analysis and reporting. To enable simple setup, monitoring, and operation, the interface allows users to view multiple line items at a glance. Plus, all numeric data and value entries are made through an on-screen calculator type interface, thereby eliminating the need to scroll through long lists. For improved function, multiple detectors can be monitored and controlled from a single PC using Eriez free E-Z Link software. This enables its users to monitor each system and provide access to data and reports.  Eriez, Erie, PA 888-300-3743 www.eriez.com

Vertical Fall Metal Detector The compact vertical fall metal detector is 25% smaller than the standard systems previously available. The Insight vertical fall provides manufacturers with high levels of protection for incoming bulk raw materials in both granular and fine powder form – even in severely restricted spaces. By incorporating a quick-release reject system, the amount of downtime and products rejected are reduced, while the quality of the material remains protected. The sealed flap reject system offers particular maintenance advantages. It can be cleaned on the spot without having to be removed from the line. To clean the interior of the pipe, there are no nuts or bolts to unscrew – hinges are simply unclipped, which allows for easy pivoting of the arm. This quick-release means less time is wasted on dismantling and resealing the valve.  Lock Inspection Systems, Fitchburg, MA 800-227-5539  www.lockinspection.com

Vertical Spout Magnets Engineered to remove fine to large ferrous contaminants from high-volume, gravity-fed product streams, EZ Clean vertical spout magnets are ideally suited for products that would bridge or choke in a magnetic tube-type separator. Ferrous contaminants are easily removed from products that are moist, lumpy, granular, or in powder form. Two powerful opposing magnets mounted to the outside of the housing draw tramp metal out of the product stream. A center diverter on the housing inlet helps direct product towards the magnets. A single trap face design eliminates the possibility of the captured tramp metal being washed off back into the product stream. The magnets retract from the housing taking the tramp metal out of the product flow area. A stripper plate stops as the magnets continue to retract, separating the magnets from the stripper plate. Tramp metal is safely discarded into collection trays.  Puritan Magnetics Inc., Oxford, MI 248-628-3808  www.puritanmagnetics.com

Metal Detector The Stealth metal detector is the latest addition to the Phantom series. The design offers full backwards compatibility, ensuring spare parts and upgrades are readily available for existing systems. Features of the new unit include powerful digital signal processing (DSP) technology that provides high-speed precision detection, while ultra-sensitivity levels detect the smallest metal contaminants. Quality Assurance testing on samples can be initiated on demand or by time interval, and the software filtering system enhances performance while minimizing false rejects. Access to QA reports via Fortress Contact software and easy metal detector updates are enabled by the USB connector. In addition to secure password protection, the enhanced control panel is accented by multi-language options and a user-friendly interface. Fortress Technology Inc.,  Toronto, ON, Canada 888-220-8737  www.fortresstechnology.com
