2 Killed in Chemical Plant Explosion

Two people were killed and four injured in an explosion at a chemical plant in northwest China's Ningxia region, state media outlet Xinhua reported.

The accident occurred Thursday at the site of Ningxia Baofeng Energy, a Shanghai-listed group that produces chemicals from coal.

The injured have been taken to the hospital and are receiving treatment, while the cause of the accident is under investigation.

 On January 31, 2024, a deflagration accident occurred at the same plant, causing minor injuries to two inspectors near the site. That fire was relieved within 14 minutes, and the accident was effectively disposed of, with no secondary disaster occurring.

Ningxia Baofeng Energy manufactures and distributes chemical products and includes production of coal mining, maintenance of mining equipment, and production of chemicals. The company was founded in November 2005 and is headquartered in Yinchuan, China.
