Producer and distributor of branded nuts, trail mixes, and dried fruits Star Snacks Co. LLC is planning to build a new $18 million peanut roasting and packaging facility in Macon-Bibb county in Georgia, the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) announced by press release Monday.

“In choosing Macon-Bibb county, Star Snacks will enjoy the benefits of locating in the top state for both business and peanut production. Georgia’s skilled workforce and unparalleled economic environment will serve Star Snacks well for the future as the company continues to grow,” said Georgia Governor Nathan Deal in a statement.

The 200,000-sq-ft facility will create 115 new jobs to source, roast, and distribute peanuts for private label customers including national and regional drug store chains, brand name retailers, supermarkets, and discount food retailers.

“Our state is known for its agricultural assets, both nationally and internationally, and peanuts are one of our most recognizable Georgia grown products. It is our hope that Star Snacks finds our abundant agricultural resources, skilled workforce, and accessibility to markets worldwide beneficial to their operations,” said GDEcD commissioner Pat Wilson in the release.

Star Snacks is headquartered in Jersey City, NJ and operates a manufacturing facility in New Jersey.
