Powder Show Conference Features Top Experts
The Powder Show conference program kicks off Tuesday, May 3, at 9am.

The International Powder & Bulk Solids conference program is crafted with input from an advisory board full of industry experts. Designed for new and experienced processing professionals to learn the latest in safety, efficiency, and compliance, this flexible conference program provides in-depth technical training to help attendees brush up on the fundamentals or tackle more advanced topics.

This year's conference program provides an impressive range of the training and education with topics like powder flow management, pneumatic conveying design, explosion suppression, particle segregation, and much more.

The program kicks off Tuesday, May 3, at 9am with a Keynote Panel Discussion: Discrete Element Method (DEM) – Taking the Guesswork Out of Particle Flow.

After the keynote at 10:15, there will be four sessions: Why Your Powders and Bulk Solids Don’t Flow Well and How to Improve It, Dust Control for Dry Bulk Handling Applications , Troubleshooting Pneumatic Conveying, and Process and Facility Design: The Best Layouts for Handling Powders.

At 1:30, conferees can choose from: How to Design a Bin, Silo, or Feeder to Reliably Handle Powders or Bulk Solids; HOW to Protect WHAT? Common Sense Approach to Combustible Dust Risk Reduction: Pneumatic Conveying in the Room: System Design & Optimization Guidelines – Tabletop Model: and a facilitated dust control tour of the show floor.

At 3:15, the options include: Are Your Equipment and Processes Up to OSHA’s Standards?; Nanotechnology – Advancements in Size Reduction; To Retrofit or To Invest? Making the Best Equipment-Based Decision for Your Business; and Successful Transfer Chute Design the First Time.

Day two of the conference, Wednesday, May 4, begins at 9am with a Keynote Panel Discussion: Cause & Effect – Hopper & Silo Failures and How They Could Have Been Prevented.

At 10:15, there are four options include: Effectively Mixing, Blending, and Sampling Powders and Bulk Solids; The New NFPA 652 Standard – What Does It Mean for You?; Segregation of Particles and How to Control It; The Future of Sensors and Embedded Systems – Methods for Adaptation to IoT.

Four more options at 1:30 include: Grinding and Milling: What’s What and When to Use It; Testing to Assess Explosion Characteristics of Dust Clouds; Advances in Discrete Element Method – Theory and Practical Applications; and a Facilitated Bulk Storage and Feeding Tour.

At 3:15, conferees have a choice of: Proven Methods to Solve Particle Segregation Occurring in Industrial Applications; Adapting Dry Blending Operations to Today’s Marketplace; Improving Processes through Collaboration – Connecting Product Development to Process Development; How to Interpret a Flow Properties Report and Bin Design Examples.

The third and final day of the 2016 Powder Show Conference, Thursday, May 5, begins with a Keynote Panel Discussion from 9-10am: Combustible Dust Mitigation and Hazard Identification – Employee and Factory Safety. That is followed by Conveyer Selection Criteria for Mechanical Handling Systems, Best Practices for Dust Collection, and Industry Outlook into Biomass and Overcoming the Handling Difficulties, f rom 10:15-11:45am.

At 1:30, there are two sessions and a tour of the exhibit hall: Selection Processes for Small-Size Powder Handling Equipment; Effect of Temperature and Relative Humidity on the Flowability of Bulk Solids; and a Facilitated Pneumatic Conveying Systems Tour.

The Conference wraps up at 3:15 with the following options: Dilute vs. Dense Phase Pneumatic Conveying; Volumetric and Gravimetric Feeder Design to Ensure Reliable Flow; and So You’re Having a Bulk Solids Storage Problem.
