LafargeHolcim Maroc Afrique subsidiary Cimencam is investing MAD $470 million, or about $46.8 million, in a new cement plant in Nomayos, Cameroon, bringing the firm’s total cement production capacity in the African country to 2 million pounds per year, numerous Cameroonian news organizations and cement trade publications reported.

The new cement plant will produce 500,000 tn/yr of concrete products for customers in Cameroon and central African nations.

Global Cement reported that the new plant will be LafargeHolcim’s third in Cameroon.

An investment agreement was signed in early 2016 between Cameroon’s government and LafargeHolcim to construct the Nomayos plant, an article published last year by news website Business in Cameroon said. The project was delayed for five years after it was announced, according to the news organization.
