General Mills is planning to close a Pillsbury plant in Midland, ON on Friday, cutting 100 local jobs, the Barrie [ON] Examiner reported Tuesday.

The plant has been operational since 1952 and produces refrigerated baked goods and pizza, the newspaper reported.

So far, General Mills has announced no plans regarding the fate of the property or its workers there.

“At this time, we do not have any final details to share about a buyer or interested parties,” General Mills spokesperson Kelsey Roemhildt told the Examiner.

The company said an overall operations review from two years ago led to General Mills’ decision to close the facility.

“The company announced the closure as part of an ongoing review of our supply chain network to identify ways to optimize operations and reduce excess capacity,” said Roemhildt.
