W.M. Kelley Invests $1.8M in Expansion of Indiana Facility

Citing rising demand for material handling equipment, W.M. Kelley Company Inc. is investing $1.8 million to expand and equip its New Albany, IN manufacturing facility, the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) announced by press release Tuesday.

The material handling and conveyor systems equipment maker is set to begin construction on a 14,000-sq-ft addition at the site in January, bringing the facility’s footprint to about 100,000-sq-ft., IEDC said. W.M. Kelley’s expansion is part of the company’s effort to increase sales by 30% by the end of 2018

Currently employing over 65 workers, W.M. Kelley said it will add up to 13 new jobs by 2019, including positions for skilled welders and machine operators, the release said. IEDC offered the company $75,000 in performance-based training grants contingent on the company’s plans for job creation.

“We’re proud to be expanding in Indiana because of our employees and the outstanding regional workforce in manufacturing,” Mike Kelley, president of W.M. Kelley, said in the IEDC release. “We have always been able to find and hire qualified people in New Albany who care about the future of the company, and we look forward to growing this business right here with their help.”

Serving the automotive, airline, food and beverage, agricultural, construction, and defense industries, W.M. Kelley was founded in 1971 in New Albany.
