Paint, coatings, and specialty chemicals manufacturer AkzoNobel is expanding production and adding about 70 staff positions at its Nashville, TN facility, the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development announced Tuesday.

The facility is part of the company’s Performance Coatings unit, according to AkzoNobel’s website, producing products used in a number of markets from transportation to consumer goods.

AkzoNobel’s expansion will create about 40 professional service jobs and 30 new manufacturing positions as the company invests $10 million in the site over the next five years, the company said.

“Through our products and customers, we are creating everyday essentials to make peoples’ lives more livable and inspiring,” said John Landfors, president of AkzoNobel North America, in a statement. “With Nashville’s focus on sustainability and responsible growth, we have found a great match between the purpose and mission of our company and the community of Nashville. We look forward to growing with Nashville and welcoming new employees to our organization.”

The Amsterdam-headquartered company employs 5000 workers and operates 45 manufacturing and office locations in North America.
