SOCMA Welcomes 13 New Members in Second Half of 2012

The Society of Chemical Manufacturers and Affiliates (SOCMA) welcomed 13 new members, including four Italian companies and a major oilfield services company, that are looking to utilize SOCMA’s resources to network and market their companies. The new members were approved by SOCMA’s Board of Governors during meetings held in October and December.

"We are pleased to welcome this group of new member companies, which demonstrates the diversity and strength of SOCMA’s membership," said SOCMA president and CEO Lawrence D. Sloan. "Our services and expertise in the specialty chemical industry continue to have value for companies throughout the world, and we encourage our incoming members to take full advantage of all we have to offer."

Italian companies ZaCh Systems, Olon SpA, Flamma, and Lundbeck Pharmaceuticals Italy S.p.A. joined SOCMA at the recommendation of the Italian Trade Commission (ITC), which encouraged the companies to expand their business opportunities though SOCMA membership. The companies are also interested in participating in networking events and marketing their businesses through a variety of services, such as SOCMA’s Marketplace and Chemical Services Directory and Informex.

Another significant addition to SOCMA’s membership is Weatherford International, one of the world’s largest oilfield services companies. Weatherford joined SOCMA because of its growing chemical operations. Through acquisition and growth, Weatherford has developed a vigorous Engineered Chemistry group, and the company is looking to utilize SOCMA’s Government Relations and ChemStewards programs to grow its business.
