The firm will build a new production facility in Bond, MS as part of its effort to double its capacity over the next five years.

The world’s largest wood pellets manufacturer, Enviva, is planning to open a new $250 million to open its fourth facility in Mississippi. Gov. Tate Reeves announced Monday that the firm is locating a new biomass production facility in Bond, MS.

“Our new plant in Bond is an integral part of Enviva’s growth strategy, which includes doubling production capacity over the next five years as we work to meet the growing global demand for our renewable products that help our customers around the world facilitate the energy transition and displace fossil fuel inputs to decarbonize difficult to abate industries,” Enviva chairman and chief executive officer John Keppler said in release.

The facility in Bond is anticipated to generate an economic impact in the region of over $250 million per year. About 100 new jobs will be created with the opening of the site.

Construction is slated to begin next year, with operations commencing by 2024.
