PTX/Powder Show Canada Opens Today

Process Technology/Powder & Bulk Solids Canada (PTX/Powder Show Canada), the Canadian resource for process manufacturers to find the latest solutions to help increase production efficiencies, cut cost, eliminate waste, and ensure product consistency, will take place May 14-16, 2013 at the Toronto Congress Center in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
    Co-located with PACKEX, PLASTEX, Design & Manufacturing Canada, and ATX Canada, PTX/Powder Show Canada is the source the full spectrum of process manufacturing technologies, including: accessories, components, and services; automation, instrumentation, and controls; conveyers and feeders; dryers; dust collectors and scrubbers; material handling, transportation, and storage; mixers and blenders; packaging and bagging; particle enlargers and formers; screening, classifying, and separation; size reduction; thermal solids processors; weighing systems and scales.
    Attendees will be able to find solutions to benefit the manufacturing of a broad range of
products, including: asphalt and hot mixes; carbon black; ceramics; clay; cosmetics; explosives and ammunition; food products; glass; industrial and agricultural chemicals; lime and cement; metals ; minerals; pharmaceuticals; pigments and coatings; plastics and rubber; primary aluminum; process chemicals; pulp and paper; steel; stone; textiles; and more.
    PTX/Powder Show Canada will present the full range of processing technologies, products, equipment, systems, and services to the region’s process, production, and manufacturing engineers/managers; plant, operations, and facilities staff/managers; packaging managers/engineers; and general corporate managers.

Canada: A Major Force in North American Manufacturing
According to government agency Industry Canada, there are more than 56,000 manufacturing establishments in Canada that employ more than 1.7 million people and generate nearly C$600 billion in annual sales. These facilities spend C$368 billion on materials and supplies used in production, while making annual investments of C$177 billion in machinery and equipment.

Food and Beverage
Canada’s second-largest manufacturing sector accounts for approximately 14% of the country’s manufacturing shipments, with more than 6500 manufacturing establishments employing 245,000 and posting annual revenues of C$80 billion.

Chemicals
Chemical product manufacturing is the nation’s third largest sector, with annual sales volume of C$48.6 billion. Additionally, Canada’s C$8.3 billion pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, and cosmetics manufacturing industry is a subsector of the chemical category.
    
Plastics and Rubber
According to Statistics Canada, nine of the world’s 10 largest plastics and chemical companies have a production or R&D facility in Canada, including BASF, Dow Chemical, DuPont, ExxonMobil, Mitsubishi Chemical, and Shell.

       The 2008 Annual Survey of Manufacturers reported 2226 plastics processing facilities in Canada, with a total of more than 110,000 employees and annual sales of C$25.6 billion.

       PTX/Powder Show Canada hours are 10 am – 5 pm Tuesday, May 14 and Wednesday, May 15, and 10 am – 4 pm Thursday, May 16. Registration opens at 8 am on Tuesday and Wednesday, and 8:30 am on Thursday.
