Mars Petcare is planning a $72 million expansion of a Fort Smith, AR factory that produces Cesar and Nutro brand dog food and Sheba wet cat foot, the McLean, VA-based company announced by press release Wednesday.

130 new, full-time jobs are expected to be created as a result of the expansion, the company said, and the site could receive up to $110 million in investments over the next few years.

“Mars Petcare’s decision to expand this facility speaks highly of the company’s existing workforce in Fort Smith,” said Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson in a statement. “This is a very significant investment that will not only impact the local economy but that of the state. Thanks to the leadership of Mars Petcare for choosing to grow in Arkansas and the associates who make it such a great place to work.”

Mars’ Fort Smith facility is considered the world’s first sustainable pet food manufacturing facility, the company said, and the LEED-Gold certified site was the first sustainable manufacturing facility constructed in the state.

From 2007 to 2015, Mars invested about $130 million in the site, creating more than 200 full-time jobs.
