Machinery, Dust Collector Catch Fire at Illinois Plant
Firefighters put out a blaze in a piece of machinery and its dust collector last Thursday at a industrial facility in Illinois.

Fire crews worked to put out a fire in a piece of machinery and its dust collector last Thursday night at the Industrial Hard Chrome plant in Geneva, IL, the City of Geneva announced in a recent press release.

Responding to the Fluid Power Drive site at about 10:25 p.m., firefighters arrived at the scene to find smoke coming out from several open overhead doors on the structure and a large piece of machinery involved in flames. Industrial Hard Chrome uses the equipment for buffing and polishing of chrome-plated metal products, according to officials.

“The fire, which was extinguished around 11:30 p.m., was confined to the machine and its dust collection system,” the fire department’s release said. “There was no structural damage to the building or any of the other machines. Nobody was injured in the fire.”

Officials are investigating the cause of the blaze. An estimate on damages was not available.

Industrial Hard Chrome produces hard chrome plated bars, induction hardened and chrome plated bars, OD chrome plated tubing, turned and polished bars, fully machined piston rods, and a number of other products, the company’s website states.
