Fike’s Bob Korn to Speak at Ohio Safety Conference

Bob Korn, Fike's director of sales and marketing for industrial protection, will host an educational session during the Ohio Safety Conference on Wednesday, March 28. Korn will present information on identifying and protecting facilities from combustible dust, as well as specific mitigation techniques.

The 2012 Ohio Safety Conference and Expo is the 82nd event hosted by The Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation. This year's focus is "Well at Home, Safe at Work." With 200 exhibitors and over 150 educational sessions, this three-day event offers countless resources for both workers and administrators. Registration is free and attendees can earn Continuing Education (CE) credits for most sessions being offered.

"Safety and protection shouldn't stop at caution signs and hardhats," said Korn. "Educating people about the invisible hazards in their facilities is vital to preventing devastating disasters. We have seen the destruction explosions can cause, both to facilities and personnel, and we are dedicated to identifying specific hazards and providing customized solutions to fit individual needs."

Topics the session will include:
* How to identifying dust hazards in individual facilities
* Educating attendees on NFPA regulations and codes regarding combustible dust and explosion protection
* Identify the mitigation techniques detailed by NFPA code to protect workers and facilities

"Effective management of dust and gas explosion risks requires an understanding of critical explosion characteristics, determination of combustible atmospheres, and identification of potential ignition sources," explained Korn. "Once risks have been identified, explosion protection equipment must be properly designed and maintained to minimize any risk. Fike offers a complete line of explosion protection solutions, including several flameless venting options, explosion suppression, isolation, and full-scale testing capabilities."
