Dutch firm Royal DSM recently debuted a new production line for Arnitel brand high-performance specialty polymers at its plant in Emmen, the Netherlands that expands the firm’s capacity for the material by 20%, a recent company press release announced.

The company said the added capacity helps DSM meet increased demand for the thermoplastic copolyesters (TPCs), as well as improves DSM’s supply flexibility and security.

“We see increasing demand of Arnitel in various application areas, including automotive, consumer, and industrial,” Lu Zhang, global business director at DSM Engineering Plastics, said in the release. “The capacity expansion shows DSM’s commitment to our customers and industries we serve.”

Some automotive industry users are using Arnitel as a low-cost, eco-friendly alternative to rubber. The polymers are also used in electrical and electronics applications and packaging.
