Flour milling and ingredient company Ardent Mills purchased a grain elevator in Klamath Falls, OR to better serve customers in the Pacific Northwest region, increase its organic capabilities, and support its business The Annex by Ardent Mills, the company announced in a recent release.

“This acquisition enhances Ardent Mills’ ability to source grains from organic and conventional family farms in the region,” the firm’s chief executive officer, Dan Dye, said in a statement. “It gives us the opportunity to become the trusted partner for these growers, which is a key component of Ardent Mills’ vision.”

The site is located near the company’s existing community mill in Stockton, CA and a mix plant in Arlington, OR. Ardent Mills said the elevator’s location also will also allow the firm to collaborate with universities on breeding.

“The location of the Klamath Falls elevator and our long-standing relationships with farmers in the surrounding area support our core business and open up specialty opportunities in the world of grain,” Sherene White, general manager of The Annex, said in the release. “This is an exciting addition to our network of facilities and further drives our extensive grower network, public-private partnerships and commitment to innovation.”

Ardent Mills assumed ownership of the facility on July 1.
