Heat transfer, separation, and fluid handling technology firm Alfa Laval recently opened a new manufacturing unit in Richmond, VA for brazed heat exchangers (BHE), a company press release announced. With the new asset, the firm will manufacture about 90% of its BHE products in the United States.

“This expansion in our manufacturing capabilities and footprint is driven by our ambition to be close to our customers – it enables us to address their demands with more flexibility and speed,” Fredrik Ekstrom, vice president, Energy Division, president Brazed and Fusion Bonded Heat Exchangers Business Unit at Alfa Laval, said in a statement. “Quality, availability and competitiveness remain, as always, core to our activities.”

Alfa Laval’s Richmond site is also capable of producing gasketed plate heat exchangers (GPHE), compabloc welded heat exchangers, centrifugal and positive displacement pumps, single-seat and mixproof valves. The facility also contains a plate heat exchanger service center.

The company also operates a spiral heat exchanger production plant in Broken Arrow, OK.
