Volkmann Hosts First Advanced Training Seminar for Manufacturing Representatives at German Corporate Headquarters

Volkmann Inc. recently held an advanced training course for a number of its manufacturer representatives at the company headquarters and manufacturing base in Soest, Germany. A total of 11 representatives, covering 16 states, Canada, and Puerto Rico, made the trip that covered advanced conveying techniques, testing procedures, hands on assembly, fault finding, and presentations on ATEX certification for explosion proof applications.

“The primary objective of the training was to ensure that each representative was completely comfortable with the technical aspects of our vacuum conveying systems covering lean, dense, and plug flow conveying,” said Nick Hayes, president of Volkmann Inc. “This in turn will allow them to guide clients in the selection of the correct equipment and to be able to support clients through order to installation and on to the after-sales support stage.”

Additional objectives of the training were to make each representative familiar with the operations of Volkmann and to meet the staff at headquarters, to see the lean manufacturing systems employed that produce quick deliveries, as well as the modern CNC based manufacturing capabilities. Representatives were also able to visit ATEX Fire and Explosion Ltd’s test laboratories and to see first-hand how minimum ignition energy levels are established, as well as seeing highly memorable practical demonstrations of powder explosions using starch and flour dusts clouds.

Volkmann is an industry leading manufacturer of vacuum conveying systems and was the first vacuum conveying company to receive ATEX certification for the use of their conveyors in explosion potential areas and zones. Volkmann Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of Volkmann GmbH, is based in Hainesport, NJ where it has test and demonstration facilities. For more information, visit www.volkmannUSA.com
