Union Process Inc., a full-service manufacturer of size reduction and dispersing equipment for industrial applications, has completed a 6000-sq-ft expansion of its Akron, OH plant to accommodate the growth of its toll-milling operation.

"Over the recent years, we have seen our growth in the service arena expanding at a rapid rate,” said President Arno Szegvari. “Many of our customers are choosing to have us grind their material for them in our pilot plant rather than purchasing a machine right out of the gate. We have found that a good number of our customers ultimately purchase a mill from us once they see the desired result in our plant."

Toll milling, the process of a manufacturer grinding material for the customer in the manufacturer's plant, is done for a number of reasons. The customer may want to delay the cost of purchasing capital equipment but still requires material milling for their application. The customer may simply not have the plant space to accommodate new equipment. Finally, the customer may have no interest in manufacturing and would like to rely on the milling expertise of Union Process to produce material for them. The growth in this area of toll milling necessitated the expansion of the Union Process toll milling facility.
