pbs0709p6a.jpgPoured-in-Place Gaskets
An updated line of Absolute HEPA and ULPA filters now includes a “poured-in-place” gasket that ensures leak-free performance. Available on all of the company’s gasket-seal Absolute filters, the gasket’s sealing method is uniform in depth and encompasses the entire filter sealing surface, eliminating gasket junctures, blemishes, and other corner leaks that occur with conventional high-efficiency filters. A leak path smaller than a pinhead can allow thousands of contaminated particles per minute to bypass the filter, compromising critical environments such as operating suites, clean manufacturing processes, and clean spaces. The poured-in-place gasket technology eliminates these leak paths, ensuring that efficiency is maintained at 99.97% on 0.3-µm particles (HEPA filters) or at 99.99997% on .012-µm particles (ULPA filters). The gasketing is made of polyurethane and is compatible with virtually all types of systems.

pbs0709p6b.jpgDewatering and Drying
Bulk solids have traditionally been dewatered and dried with two separate machines. The J-Vap system combines a filter press and drying technology in one unit. A combination of hot water and vacuum is applied in the filter press after the dewatering portion of the cycle is complete. The product is subjected to a gentle low-temperature drying process that does not alter crystalline structures and produces more than 95% dry solids. The results typically improve product quality and increase productivity. Laboratory and on-site testing is available.

pbs0709p8d.jpgAgitator Hopper/Screw Conveyor
The agitator hopper’s design draws material away from the sides of the surge hopper and directs it through its center discharge, which eliminates material bridging or ratholing and results in a consistent material supply to a screw conveyor. The conveyor is designed to handle non-free-flowing materials and has controls that receive loss-in-weight information from the bulk bag discharger’s load cells. A variable-speed drive is used to change the screw conveyor’s feed rate from bulk to dribble to improve the batch accuracy prior to stopping the screw conveyor once the target batch weight has been discharged.

pbs0709p14a.jpgWeigh Belt Feeders
This complete line of high-capacity, heavy-duty weigh belt feeders features a design that results in high accuracy and stable calibration. These feeders are designed to survive harsh industrial environments and are capable of accurately measuring and controlling feed rates up to 3000 t/hr. Weighing is done through a patented low-deflection, non-wearing force-measurement suspension system weight-sensing scale. The weight transducer is located outside the feeder enclosure. This design makes the scale less susceptible to damage, is out of the way for cleaning, and is not prone to tar buildup because material cannot fall onto the scale. High accuracy is accomplished by using 100% of the scale’s capacity to weigh material. Dead weight of the weigh idler and belt is mass-counterbalanced, which provides
excellent resolution and a high signal-to-noise ratio.

pbs0709p15c.jpgDilute-Phase Vacuum Systems
Dilute-phase vacuum conveying systems continuously move small particles such as powders, granules, and pellets through the convey line using vacuum generated by a positive-flow pump. The versatile system conveys material at low-to-moderate capacities and over medium distances for maximum flexibility. Product enters the convey line directly or via a Cyclonaire rotary airlock feeder if metering is required. A positive-displacement vacuum pump conveys material through the pipeline to the destination. There, a Cyclonaire filter receiver filters the product, and automatic timers clean the filter media with pulse-jet reverse-flow air, dropping retained material back into the process. By using diverter valves, material from different feed points can be conveyed. The conveyed product is discharged from the receiving vessel either on a continuous basis or intermittently, depending on the application. Dilute-phase vacuum systems are suitable for batching ingredients and feeding to blenders, mixers, or other process equipment. The system can also provide a cost-effective solution for ensuring environmental quality and operator safety. Custom engineering is available.

pbs0709p23d.jpgBatching System
A manufacturer required a clean, accurate method of batching out specific amounts of various carbon black materials in a process that required frequent changes of the materials. Engineers designed a gain-in-weight bulk-bag unloading station with an interchangeable-frame system complete with unloader assembly. After closing a butterfly valve, the original frame is lifted out of the stationary feeding station and replaced by a second frame with different material. Its butterfly valve is opened and the material change is complete. For gain-in-weight batching, carbon black is metered out of the unloading station into a plastic bin, which is indexed onto a scale. When initiated, the system automatically dispenses the proper amount of material, accurate to ± 0.1 lb on a 75-lb batch. The complete process is accomplished in a dust-free environment. The system is readily adaptable to other applications.

pbs0709p27a.jpgBenchtop Powder Filler
The Model 4400/TX benchtop powder filler accurately meters small doses of dry powdered or granular products within any limited-production or laboratory environment. It is suited for metering out individual doses of approximately 100 mg to 40 grams at rates of up to 10,000 fills/day. It is designed for use in a wide range of industrial settings, including the food and pharmaceutical industries. The vacuum/volumetric powder filler delivers good corresponding weight-to-volume repeatability in small doses. To initiate a fill cycle, the operator places an empty container on the adjustable container platform. The resulting signal from the integral Container Present switch starts the following sequences of events. First, a predetermined volume of powder is dispensed from the shuttle disk chamber into the waiting container. After a short, programmed time delay to clear the chamber of powder, the cycle continues automatically. The shuttle disk rotates up to pick up another volume of material from the agitator box and dwells there momentarily before returning to its home position to await the next “start” signal from the Container Present switch.
