SOCMA Welcomes Eight New Members in First Quarter

The Society of Chemical Manufacturers and Affiliates (SOCMA) has announced the approval of eight new companies for membership, including the association’s first inorganic specialty chemical manufacturer since SOCMA repositioned itself to broaden its membership base. The new members, who are located throughout the U.S. and Japan, were approved by SOCMA’s Board of Governors at their March 23 meeting in Washington, DC.

“We are pleased to welcome these new members into SOCMA’s ranks and eager for them to take full advantage of the benefits that membership offers,” said Board of Governors chairman Dr. Larry Brotherton. “As SOCMA continues to provide top-notch programs and services, I am confident we will strengthen the diversity and quality of our membership.”

New SOCMA members include:

Harrell Industries Inc., Rock Hill, SC – Founded in 1985, it is a privately held specialty chemical manufacturing company. Harrell’s services include high-quality custom synthesis of organic or inorganic chemicals, custom blending, and repackaging of a variety of bulk chemicals.

Myriant Technologies LLC, Quincy, MA – Myriant utilizes proprietary technology to advance the development of low-cost cellulosic sugars for the sustainable manufacturing of high-value specialty chemicals using a world-renowned team of molecular biologists, engineers, and chemists. The company's D(-) lactic acid is in production for use in polylactic acid and production of its second product, biobased Succinic Acid will begin soon.

G4S Wackenhut, Palm Beach Gardens, FL – G4S is a provider of security and security related solutions in the U.S. and is part of one of the world's leading security groups. G4S Wackenhut is a single-source provider of integrated security solutions. Customers in the chemical environment are provided with expertise in designing and deploying security solutions for regulated (CFATS, MTSA), as well as unregulated facilities across the U.S.

SiVance LLC, Gainesville, FL – SiVance is focused on the development and manufacture of specialty silicone technologies and intermediates required to modify many different silicone and non silicone materials.
